About Us
Creative Communication Counseling was started by our Director, Robin Van Buren, in 2004.  Robin Van Buren is a clinically licensed and certified speech and language pathologist.  She is licensed in the state of California and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association of which she is also an active member.  Ms. Van Buren has over 20 years experience working in public and private settings with children and adults who have communication difficulties and developmental delays.

Ms. Van Buren received her BA degree in Psychology and Social Welfare from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and an MA degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Northern Illinois University.  Ms. Van Buren’s interest in the field of speech and language pathology began while working at the Illinois Autism Society.  While pursuing her masters degree Ms. Van Buren held a variety of positions working with adults and children who had diagnosed developmental and communication delays.  She developed the Autism Program at the Institute for Communicative Disorders in Naperville, Illinois.  In addition to her private practice experience she worked in the public schools as the primary speech and language clinician for children with special needs included in regular education settings.

In addition to Ms. Van Buren our clinic has a highly trained staff all of whom have experience working with children with autism.  Our speech and language  pathologists , speech pathology assistant’s and classroom aides receive formal and informal training on a regular basis.

Our staff is trained on a variety of techniques and approaches to provide each child with a unique and individualized therapy program.  Training and clinical certifications include but are not limited to the following:  Hanen “It Takes Two to Talk”, SCERTS, PECS, Links to Language, and PROMPT.
